Day 3 at the Zoo!

Naomi's favorites are the "big cats" where she can get right up against the glass! She also likes the monkeys as her new animal noise/action is acting like a monkey :) This was her first time in the fish building!

jabber jabber!

just chillin' so stoic!

Elmo Chicken

Please excuse my villianous laughter :) Here's Naomi, again wearing the Elmo costume, practicing her animal sounds. This is her favorite.

See Ya Later

Sept 1, 2009
"I'm coming, daddy!"
the girl loves to dress up.

The End of Aug

Naomi is so funny these days. She loves copying me, wearing my hats, headbands, scarves, jewelry, putting on my makeup (she brushes her face with a makeup brush), wearing sunglasses and carrying her purse when we go somewhere. She EVEN let me paint her toes! While I was doing mine she sat down next to me and pointed to her toes. She sat very still while I painted them :)
Wearing my headband- she puts them on herself.
my hat and bracelet
hat buddies!
only 19 months, but she looks so old to me!
here she looks like trouble.
Bryant and I took Naomi to the NC Museum of Natual Science in Raleigh last Sunday. It was a little old for her (aka not much to play with) but she enjoyed running around touching things.
and hiding behind things
I liked the dinosaur exhibit- T-Rex skull!
Naomi ate her way through

this is so cute. They are looking up at the bats in the cave. Naomi was a little freaked out by them; she grabbed Bryant's hand and took him in with her.

Naomi loves wearing her Elmo costume.

Baby in Red

Finally, a bow in her hair! It lasted all of 2 minutes ;)

Her she is in another one of daddy's hats!

And for a third red outfit...ELMO! haha, she found this in her closet and wanted to wear it.
I just love this picture of her and Bryant...she looks just like him!! Those eyes!!

And this is Naomi the Chief Thief. I got these boxers for hosting a "coffee" (meeting) for the Chief spouses, for which I made this sombrero cake. We had a mexican fiesta theme!

Shoes & Dolls

That's what little girls are made of.

Many Changes

18 months!
First of all here's Naomi caught on camera whining. "I want milk!" except she doesn't ask, she just whines.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AUNTIE ASHLEY! 22!
I can't believe my sister is 22! Here is Ashley and Naomi last year at her 21st bday party- at an Irish pub in Milw. This year she is at an Irish pub...IN IRELAND! So we will have to delay the stateside celebrating for a few months.

YAY! my baby can color! Naomi has finally ceased putting the crayons in her mouth so we can finally color together! And look how much she's changed in a year! One of the biggest changes to me (a girly hair-doing, accessory-loving girl) is that she no longer lets me put bows in her hair!

Coloring in action. except I took this video with my digital camera which means I don't know how to edit the videos so at the end when I am trying to get her to do "I love you" here's the explanation: Naomi has figured out what DVDs are and demands that one of her favorite 3 are always on TV. The options are: Elmo's World- The Outdoors, Elmo Loves You, or Alvin and the Chipmunks. On Elmo Loves You there is a clip featuring a song about signing "I love you" with kids crossing their arms across their chest for the word "love." Well the other night when I said, "I love you" to Naomi she crossed her arms across her chest! Aww! My excitement is twofold: While I know many kids sign, Naomi just flat out refuses to learn/do any signs I try with her. Secondly, this doesn't make me feel so bad about letting her watch TV!

Camo

Yes, my husband is in the Air Force. Yes he will be deploying. That is all the specifics you get. However, I can't help but let you in on a little "equipment-readiness" video. I never thought I'd ever have so much camo in my house!! And of course, Naomi-the-hat-thief strikes again.

So when we are not at Target, we might be at the pool. Or at the gym. Yup that pretty much sums it up: Target, pool, gym. And the occasional painful trips to Walmart for groceries. For someone who loves to shop and peruse for hours on end I absolutely hate buying groceries. Towels? sure. Clocks? no problem. Gifts? oh yeah. But food??? boo. Food is not fun and interesting and you can't decorate with it or wrap it up all pretty. Spoken like a true un-cook I suppose. True, I bake, but only because after the baking comes the decorating- the art part. So anyway, here are more pool pictures- Naomi will now go in on her own and play and splash and it's really nice that she's not afraid of it. But then there are the goggles- makes me a little afraid!
The little nut. She really wanted to try on the goggles, and she liked wearing them!! Oh, and might I point out the significance of the turtle swimsuit. She is 1/8 Oneida- part of the Turtle Clan! So she has a few outfits with turtles on them :)

So our days lately have consisted of lots of Target shopping trips. What can say, on a 95 degree day I hesitate to have Naomi outside too much, but we need activity! And don't forget I live in a city that has no museums and a very small mall. Alas, Target it is. On one such excursion we ran into Naomi's friend Mae Mae (Maegan) in where else? The shoe department. The girls had so much fun together trying on shoes, walking in shoes, running without shoes, and sitting on the little benches. I think it was seriously a 20-30 min adventure. It's what I like to call free, air-conditioned fun. I snapped this photo with my phone- they crack me up!

I'd also like to add that 2 of my most favorite things in the world are now:

1) going to Target with Naomi and stopping for a snack at the Starbucks there before gallivanting around the store (because that what Noami does- she doesn't sit in the cart, she gallivants and picks stuff up and puts it back down and squeals at other kids and especially likes to open greeting cards with music and then dance). Anyway, back to Starbucks- I get my iced latte and some berry coffee cake and we 2 girls sit at a table and have a little girl time. She looks so cute sitting on the big chair (and she actually SITS). It is so relaxing. I can't wait until can hold up her end of the conversation.

2) finally getting some cuddle time with Naomi. She would NEVER sit still or cuddle with Bryant or me. Now she gives the best, genuine, lovey hugs ever. DEF a favorite.

Happy 4th of July!
Naomi's newest trick is how old she is. We say, "how old is Noami?" and she displays her pointer fingers as above :) Of course she is only one, but she likes to do it with both hands!

On July 3rd our niece, Ella, was baptised in WI. She and Naomi are great friends, and were born only 3 weeks apart!

We celebrated the 4th at Chris and Tina's engagement party. Above is Shani, Tracie, Tina and me and Naomi. Below is the future groom and Bryant.

Naomi stole her cousin Leo's hat and had a photo shoot with it :)
She loved that hat!

aww, Naomi and Ella love each other so much! They give each other hugs and kisses and mostly play nicely! Me and my little firecracker!
